Foreword from Cindy:
Dear lovely readers, I’ve been searching out some really talented bloggers who all have something in common – they’re passionate about empowering women in all walks of life to become more confident and live their lives in a more expanded way – just like me!
I met Rhiannon Kemp-Davies through a women’s business club we’re both members of and I immediately had the idea of asking her to write guest blogs for me. Rhiannon is an up and coming business woman in a rather cheeky industry! Her business is That’s The Spot and she specialises in one-to-one consultations with women who are looking for information and to buy adult toys. I thought it was really important to invite Rhiannon to write a post for me, because her work is in an area that is instrumental to women’s confidence.
WARNING: this post contains sexual references related to the nature of Rhiannon’s business. If you don’t want to see that kind of stuff, stop reading now!
Still here? Great! Well then, let me hand over to Rhiannon…
Hi I’m Rhiannon and Cindy has been lovely (and brave!) enough to invite me to write a guest blog. Cindy can obviously see the potential that That’s The Spot has in opening up the world of adult toys to women who may have not owned one before, or women who would love to get advice on them but are too nervous to ask!
A gap in the market
A few years ago, I noticed a gap in the market in Cardiff – and Wales for that matter – there wasn’t an opportunity for women to shop for adult items and get honest, helpful advice on them without the hard sell.
I worked in a shop in London that gave advice to women who wanted to genuinely get themselves a good toy, or to learn more about sex toys and all that went with it. It was just brilliant – talking so openly about it, helping allay concerns, helping them develop more confidence in themselves and my favourite was when women would come into the shop trembling with nerves, and after spending some time chatting with me and picking a toy, I would see this change in them when they left – smiling from ear to ear with this radiance emitting from them!
Knowledge is power!
This is when I discovered that knowledge really is power – there are so many women that grow up without learning about the full advantages of masturbation, but as soon as they have a non-judgemental, safe place to talk about it, their worlds can change!
Building my own business
I’ve been living back in Cardiff since 2009 and last year I finally got the confidence to start up my own business with these ethics. I want to show women that they don’t have to giggle or blush every time they say the word vibrator or dildo and can actually have a proper conversation about it with an expert who knows all there is to know about sex toys and self pleasure!
I don’t have a brick and mortar shop (yet) so along with my online shop – shop.thatsthespot.co.uk – I do sex toy soirees (posh parties!), consultations (unique in the UK) and talks on the subject instead. I recognise that if there are women willing to talk about it, they deserve the right advice, and it takes a lot for some of us to ask for it.
Fantastic feedback
Here are a couple of testimonials from my clients:
“I can’t think of a better person to talk about such an intimate topic and turn it into an entertaining and fun experience”
“I thought I would feel very uncomfortable in this session. To my surprise, I really enjoyed it. Rhiannon’s skills, knowledge and competence was really impressive”
“It’s a really wonderful way to find out about things I might have wondered about but had been too nervous to ask about in a shop”

Gorgeous pieces of art!
I have purposely made sure that the items I sell are of good quality and I provide a lovely selection of different styles of toys. A lot of them may serve the same function but you can ‘get there’ in a lot of different ways! Generally speaking, women focus a bit more on how things look, so I have a lot of ‘pretty’ items too, and when you have a pretty toy, it does make a difference in how you feel when you use it! How many women actually want a toy that looks like a willy?! Some of the toys I have are just gorgeous pieces of art that wouldn’t look out of place on a mantelpiece!

That’s me for now and I look forward to blogging in the future about specific issues and helping you all feel a bit more comfortable about everything surrounding this subject.

Thank you Rhiannon 🙂
As Rhiannon mentioned, publishing this blog could be seen as quite a risk for me, so I’d love to get your feedback on Rhiannon’s post – do you want more diverse guest blogs like this, or is it going a bit too far? What subjects would you like Rhiannon to cover in future? Let us know by dropping me an email at cindy@thefgcoach.com
